GLASSWARE CLEANING PROCESS
Glassware should be washed or soaked immediately after use.
When using any new glassware they should be soaked for several hours in dilute acid solution as they may be slightly alkaline which could affect test results.
Nitric acid, aqua regia, fuming sulphuric acid or chromic acid solution can be used with extreme care if soap water or detergent solution are found inefficient.
Keep replacing your cleaning aids or brushes at regular intervals as worn-out brushes will lead to serious abrasion on the inner surface of the glassware.
The final rinsing after cleaning should always be with distilled water.
Special care should be taken while cleaning pipettes and burettes as damage to the jets and or stopcocks can affect their subsequent accuracy.
High concentration of hydrofluoric acid or hot phosphoric acid or caustic alkali solution should not at all be used for cleaning.
